I'm sailing up to NL this summer... and hoping to see an iceberg. Interested to see the dates on your pics. I won't be up until late June at best, and thought it would be too late to see any, but maybe not?! Great blog, thanks.

Hi Ben -- Glad you enjoyed my blog.

Being fairly new to NL, I can give you my limited knowledge about the icebergs. It all depends on the year as well as the location. Up along the Northern Peninsula, Baie Verte Peninsula, Twillingate area etc. see a lot more than we do. Having said that, our are and St. John's also sees it's fair sure (especially if it's a good year)

Last year (2010), we didn't see a single ice berg (pout)....but 2008 was an excellent year! .... there were a lot!!

This far 'south', they start around March/April and can go into June/July. There may be more up the northern peninsula/other areas at that time too (again...not 100% sure and it depends on the year) Your best bet would be to keep an eye on Iceberg Finder (http://www.newfoundlandlabrador.com/Icebergs/IcebergFinder/IcebergFinder.aspx) to see where the icebergs are. You can also sign up for their email list and they send out an email showing where new ones are.

Sailing up to NL sounds like a great experience!! I hope you have a great trip.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
