Brittney's friend, Bridgette, is visiting with us. She's from Ontario and this is her first trip to Newfoundland. Newfoundland is rich in history and played significant roles in many historical events. Today, we took her to visit just two of the many available sites.
First Stop --- Cape Spear....which is the most easterly point of land in North America

On to Signal Hill/Cabot Tower. It was here that the first trans Atlantic wireless radio transmission was received by Marconi in 1901 (more info here and here)
The Cabot Tower stands out for several kilometres in all directions and can be seen all across the city. We often comment it's Newfoundland's version of the CN Tower.

Oh, now I really, really want to travel to the east coast!!!
That brings back some memories, Linda! We're still planning a visit to NL someday....we've just been waylay-ed in our plans!
